Whether you’re looking to make some side money, get noticed by companies who want to work with you, or just share your creations with the world, creating a Youtube channel can be a lot of fun! But if you don’t know how to maximize your channel and create content that drives views and shares, it can be incredibly frustrating.

Here are ten tips to help you create a successful Youtube channel that will grow and sustain itself over time.

1) Do Your Research

It's important that you do your research before putting anything out into the world. Research what type of content is popular, who your target audience is, and what your niche might be.

Once you have done this, it will be much easier for you to create something that resonates with people. Doing your research can help you avoid having too many videos on a similar topic or from a similar genre.

2) Plan and Upload Content

Plan and Upload Content. Having a plan is the best way to ensure you're on track. Decide what content will be uploaded and when it will be uploaded before you start shooting videos.

Planning can also help avoid potential legal issues with copyrighted material, like music or images from other channels. Make sure that your video titles accurately represent the content of the video, so that people know what they are getting when they click on your videos.

3) Go live as soon as possible

It can take months or years to build up an audience, but going live as soon as possible will give you the opportunity to start building your viewership early on. Keep in mind that this doesn't mean you should go live every day - instead, find what works for you and do it consistently.

Once your channel starts picking up steam, experiment with different types of content so you can keep people coming back for more.

If you want to play around with the format of your videos, try filming some unboxing videos, reviews or commentary. When in doubt, just go live!

4) Shoot good quality videos

Good quality videos are one of the most important things you can have on your channel. People are more likely to subscribe if they like the quality of your video, and it's also easier to brand yourself as an expert in your field if your video is of high quality.

The first step is to invest in a good camera. We recommend getting something like the Sony A7S II or Canon C100 which will give you really high quality footage. If you're just starting out though, there are some decent cameras under $500 that will do well for now (like the Canon Rebel T5i).

Once you've invested in a good camera and microphone, we recommend shooting at least thirty (30) minutes of video with each session so that there's plenty to edit together into a cohesive video.

5) Choose a catchy channel name

Now that you have your idea, it's time to think about what your channel will be called. Channels with names that are easily remembered or are catchy are more likely to gain followers. For example, PewDiePie is the most subscribed channel on YouTube and the name is very memorable.

When creating your channel title, try to use simple words because many people might not understand the meaning behind fancier words. When choosing your username for social media platforms, make sure it has nothing but letters and numbers so that it doesn't confuse people when they try to find you online.

6) Cross-Promote on Other Platforms

Don't be afraid to spread your content. If you have a podcast, blog, or other social media profiles, share your videos with them. If you're just starting out, consider linking your YouTube channel from your website and/or Facebook profile.

This way people will know where to find new content from you. And don't forget about the friends you've made along the way!

Share your video with anyone who has helped you along the way by sharing their content as well. It's all about building relationships online which can lead to opportunities offline, too.

7) Make it easy for people to subscribe and follow you on social media

Make it easy for people to subscribe and follow you on social media by including social media links to your channel at the end of your videos. This will help you build a following and get your content out to the world! If you're looking for other video bloggers, make sure to check their social media links as well.

Also, don't forget about old-fashioned word-of-mouth, making friends in person or online who also have an interest in creating Youtube channels, collaborating with them and promoting each other's channels is always a great way to increase views!

8) Comment on other people’s videos, especially in your niche

Comment on other people’s videos, especially in your niche. This will make people feel like you’re watching their video and commenting on it, which will increase the chances of them checking out your channel.

Commenting on other people’s videos also increases the likelihood that they will comment back, which can lead to a potential conversion.

9) Don’t steal any copyrighted material like music or photos

Don’t steal any copyrighted material like music or photos. Copyrighted material can be identified by looking for the copyright symbol, which is typically ©. For videos with music, look for the words copyright and Proudly powered by YouTube.

If you are not sure if your video contains copyrighted material, then it is best to err on the side of caution and take out any copyrighted materials before publishing your video. The downside to doing this is that some people may feel alienated as a result because their favorite song won’t play in your video.

The upside though is that YouTube will do its best to find content similar to the copyrighted material in order to fill in the blanks. The upside though is that YouTube will do its best to find content similar to the copyrighted material in order to fill in the blanks.

10) Come up with topics before shooting so you can edit faster and more efficiently.

One of the most time-consuming aspects of editing is coming up with topics. When you come up with topics before shooting, you can edit faster and more efficiently.

This saves you time and energy in the long run. For example, if you have a channel that talks about cooking, it's best to come up with recipes or videos that are similar before shooting so that when you're editing you can cut and paste them together instead of coming up with something new.
