Legacy University Okija is one of the eight private universities approved in 2016 by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Legacy University got the approval of the Federal Executive Council on 2nd of November, 2016, and on the 22nd of November the same year, the University obtained license from the National Universities Commission, (NUC).

ABOUT LEGACY UNIVERSITY
Legacy University, Okija had in about the year 1984 established in Okija, Anambra state, a college of Agriculture. The then Military Governor of Anambra state, late Air Commodore Omeruah commissioned the said college of Agriculture. However, due to the specialized nature of the institution and students apathy to Agriculture, the college failed to meet up with the expectations of the founders. When, however, the federal government of Nigeria made laws and regulations allowing the establishment of private universities in Nigeria, the proprietor of Legacy University Okija went into intense and meticulous planning on the establishment of the first rate university. The result of the efforts crystalized in the quest and preparedness to establish a private university to be called “Legacy University Okija”. To the glory of God, the Federal Government of Nigeria approved the establishment of Legacy University Okija on 2ndNovember 2016.
LEGACY UNIVERSITY LOCATION
The Legacy University is located within a serene environment at Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. It has a land mass of over 100 hectares. The university is located in a village called Ubahumonum, a distance of about 20 kilometers from Onitsha, along Onitsha-Owerri express way. The University is precisely located at about 3 kilometers off the Onitsha-Owerri express road.

LEGACY UNIVERSITY HOSTEL FEE
Legacy University, being a full boarding institution ensures that conducive, comfortable and academic activity engendering accommodation provision is made available for all the students; on the University Campus.
Currently, the Landmark University accommodation hostel fee is N60,000 for each student.
The University believes that creating a happy and relaxed atmosphere is germane for every student’s successful stay on campus.
Currently, there are 6 Residential Halls comprising of 3 Halls each for each sex, and accommodating about 3000 students. Additional structures are presently being erected to accommodate the projected increase in students’ population over the coming years.
Administrative oversight functions in the Halls of Residence are provided by Administrative Officers who hold relevant First Degrees or equivalent qualifications in various fields. Each Hall has two Administrative Officers, working in shifts to ensure that the in-loco parentis role status of the University is pursued and preserved. They are assisted by Administrative Assistants.
LEGACY UNIVERSITY STUDENT LIFE
The general welfare package for all Student is given utmost attention. The University ensures provision of enabling environment for achieving academic excellence by putting in place 24/7 internet access, maximum security, uninterrupted water and power supply, and good infrastructural facilities. The University boasts of eight (8) standard Halls of residence, comprising 4 male hostels and 4 female hostels.
Towards achieving the Total Man Concept programme of Landmark University which is geared towards developing Man in his triune nature, the Sport Sub-Unit of the Directorate; working in collaboration with the Sports arm of the Student Representative Council places their emphasis on the development of Man’s physical being.
To achieve this, sporting activities, competitions, and physical fitness exercises are regularly organized for the students at the University’s Sports complex as well as other Sporting arenas around the Halls of Residence.
